Spring is here...

We are so excited for nice weather!! We played outside yesterday for the entire afternoon. It was obvious that we missed nap time when Brayden fell asleep at the table eating dinner!! I am telling you this kid could keep going forever as long you never let him stop!! He loves to walk around the neighborhood and explore everything around him, his favorite is the open lots where there is no sidewalk or grass. He is forever looking for bugs, sticks, flowers, or anything else unusual to him!
Brayden is getting a dramatic side, and plays things up a litle when he doesn't get what he wants! We just keep telling him that if he wants to cry for that go to your room so we don't want to hear it and it stops quickly suually!! It is kind of like the beginning of  "Terrible TWO's" all over again, but now he can be reasoned with!
Donny took Brayden on his first go-cart ride this weekend and he loved it first, then told daddy to go faster and didn't like that so much!! After he got off he told us "I was crying, but just kept driving", it was a fake cry!
He got some new crazy socks from Uncle Daniel and was so excited about them he took his shoes and socks off outside to try them on!! One pair had "rescue bots" on them and he thought that was the coolest thing!! I am telling you, this kid loves socks! He laid them all out in the garage, had to try them on, and couldn't wait to wear them again!! I am hoping to avoid wearing these socks with plaid shorts this summer because it could make quite an outfit!!

First Mommy/Brayden Park Day 2013

Well, we had a beautiful day and we took full advantage of it and spent all afternoon outside!! One of Brayden's favorite things is to be outside, so we had so much fun! Although I learned that the park with an almost 3 year old is much more intense than the park with a 2 year old!! He is daring and acts like he has no fear, then he gets too close to the edge and he says "That's a long way down". I was the only mom at the park following her kid around everywhere he went. This time Brayden even tried the swings, first on his belly, then the right way but couldn't hold himself on there good enough to swing!! It is so funny to me how things change and he just acts like it has always been this way!!
He is also quite my little explorer! He could spend hours in the backyard with just a couple toys and the dog looking for bugs, sticks, rocks, throwing things down the water thing!! He lays on the ground, crawls around and just runs as fast as he can. He goes in the backyard, which is fenced in, and just plays and plays!!
We took Brayden's new scooter outside for the first time and he did really good riding it around!! It makes him look so much older when he rides it because he is so tall to start with, but he loves a new challenge!! He also keeps telling us he wants a new big bike for his birthday, we keep telling him he has to pedal his tricycle first but we have had no luck!! We have tried telling him he will go faster once he pedals, but he is pretty fast with just his feet!!

Brayden had class shirt day at school last week, and they let the kids paint t shirts!! Brayden was so proud of his he has worn it multiple times since then!! It really is cute and turned out really good and has his hand prints so I love it!!

I took Brayden to work with me for about an hour this week while grandma had a procedure! We walked around and talked to everyone and he couldn't believe he was in a hospital with no helicoptor!! We looked for it and never found it, he was disappointed!! While we were there he met a girl I work with who just happened to bring a kit-kat for him so he, being his sweet self, gave her a hug and kiss!! He made her day and was the talk of the unit for  2 days!! He also brought his rescue bots and one of the doctors overheard him telling someone about them and came over to see! He showed them how all of the transformed and told him their names!! He loved it, everyone was watching him and letting him run the show!! After we left he told me "You should buy those boy doctors some rescue bots they would have a lot more fun at work"!! I told them the next day and they agreed!! We will have to see how that goes over at the hospital!!

The Rule is...and it will stay!

The rule is that Brayden can pick out his own pajamas but will wear what I buy for him otherwise. He can also pick out his shoes! This was verified when he came out with this...

Oh my goodness!! I can't even believe this look!!! I guess we are right to not let him pick out his clothes!! I think he was embarssed and trying to hide in the other picture!! Silly boy!!

Yesterday was wear pajamas to school day, and Brayden was so excited to pick out new pajamas to wear, he asked everyday if it was the day! Here is a pictures of him in his pajamas at school with a fire hat on!!

What a sweetie!!

This week started for us on Monday with the Boston Marathon Bombing. It created lots of discussion at work and I realized that I was so lucky and happy to not have to explain all of this to Brayden. Everyone had heard of one way or another to explain to their kids, and it got me thinking how refreshing my little guy really is. He has a picture in his head of everyone helping others. He tells me often "that I am nurse and work at a hospital to help people". He loves fireman, policeman.... and anytime he sees them he quickly tells me "Look he is helping people"! We see cars pulled over by the cops and he says "mommy look that policeman helping people!!" How much more refreshing can it get. It made me think about needing to assure that I teach him that all of these people are helping us even if it is giving us a ticket!?! If we could all view the world from my little guys eyes maybe it would be a better place.
Then on Wednesday I came down with something, that turned out to be strep throat, and before daddy got home I was feeling pretty miserable he brought me a tissue to help me feel better. Then he told me he got me flowers at the store, when I went into the kitchen it was the flowers that my mom had made me in a pot!! The thought was so sweet!! When I told him I was sick, he picked up my phone and called grandma, he said anyway, and said "My mommy sick and we need you now hurry hurry, thanks bye" He is so sweet, and loves his mommy so much!! Hopefully he stays like this forever!!

Silly Little Guy

Today we were spoiled with 70 degree weather, and I could easily get use to it. We started our day with meeting grandma and grandpa at Starved Rock for brunch!! It was gorgeous there and Brayden did really well and then loved running up the trails and stairs afterwards!! He remembered that he could talk grandpa into anything and took him right to the candy machine for M&M's. Grandpa asked him if he had money and he said you have "Big money Grandpa"! He can really work the Grandparents !!
Brayden has a new smile, and everything I try to take a picture of him I get this cheesy smile, it cracks me up, then after I take the picture he wants to see it and he laughs too!! I am sure that you will see this look 100 times in the upcoming posts because he is really good at it now!! I will be holding off taking his 3 year pictures till this face is less frequent!!
I learned this weekend that with boys it is a good weekend if you are able to put a hole in your jeans!! Not only is he hard on shoes, but he is hard on jeans too!! We have only had 4 nice days to play outside and he has already put a hole in one pair of jeans, but all shoes are still in one piece!! (we have been putting old shoes on him to ride his bike, yes he still is not using the pedals!!)
Here are a few pictures from the past week:

Here he is posing with his new Robots, He is obsessed with transformers, it kills me how fast he can go from one thing to the next, back to the previous, and you never know where he will go next!!

Trying to be like Jake the pirate and put his sword on his pants!! I was laughing so hard!!

Loving the Weather...

We played outside yesterday most of the day!! It was so much fun, and he took a good nap so even better!!! We went on walks, rode his bike, rode on his power wheels, and explored. Brayden loves to be outside. Yesterday we tried and tried to get him to pedal his bike with no luck! I kept having him watch how fast kids can go when they pedal and he told me his Lightening McQueen powerwheels go fast if he needs to! He would rather ruin his shoes every week than pedal!! We put him in his old shoes that already have a hole everytime we play outside!!
Brayden loves to walk around outside, he leads the way and goes to the way and goes by the ponds, into the empty lots, and this year knows to not go into the streets unless mommy is with him and he looks both ways!! So glad he remembers that!! He looks for bugs, picks up rocks, looks for sticks, and whatever else he can  do.
I can't wait for warm weather every day!! Here are a few pictures from yesterday!!

This is Brayden's version of a snow angel, although he was a little upset when he couldn't see it when he got up!!!
